	The eco-village has a phased building schedule. Ground works are underway. The village is being created by a diverse group of people who are committed to ecological, social and economic sustainability. A mixture of detached, semi-detached, terraced houses are planned as well as some live/work units. In 1999 a company was formed (Sustainable Projects Ireland). The company purchased a 67 acre farm and now has planning permission for a total of 130 sites, including community buildings and playgrounds. The organisers aim to demonstrate a high level of sustainability by following the principles set out in our ecological charter. The charter covers every relevant area of house design and construction, landscaping and lifestyle. It deals with renewable energy , efficient use of energy and water, sustainable treatment of sewage and solid wastes, materials of construction, transport, ventilation, lighting and community issues.
